Our interdisciplinary research spans material culture, landscape history, community heritage, and arts practice. We investigate the deep connections between Devon's ball clay industry and the Staffordshire Potteries through archival, ethnographic, and creative methods.

Fieldwork at sites in South Devon and Staffordshire. Participatory community workshops in South Devon and Stoke-on-Trent. Knowledge exchange and consultation. Creative practice-based research.
Outputs
Creative outputs building towards artist book and artist film works. The report generated from this research and associated creative outputs will be freely available for use in the public domain.
Emerging Findings
Our research is uncovering new perspectives on the social and environmental histories of ball clay — perspectives that challenge dominant narratives of industrialisation and open space for reparative imaginaries.
