Special Make & Create: Reimagining the Kingsteignton Figure
A hands-on workshop with clay, drawing and collage. In 1867, a mysterious wooden figure dating back to the Bronze Age was found by a clay worker at Zitherixon Quarry, near Kingsteignton. For 2,400 years, it had been preserved within the waterlogged ball clay of the Bovey Basin. Working with clay, drawing and collage, we'll explore connections between archaeology, landscape and local history, imagine new stories around the Figure, and think about how it might be displayed and its story told here in the Bovey Basin today. Open to children, young people and adults. All welcome! No previous experience needed.
